Prostate Cancer Support Groups
What Support?
In Victoria there are around 30 Prostate Cancer Support Groups.
Support Groups bring together men and women who have a passion for helping those impacted by prostate cancer. Most members of the Groups have had a direct experience of prostate cancer, either as a patient or a partner and family member.
“Group Members recommend any man newly diagnosed with prostate cancer attend a meeting, even if it’s only once.”
At meetings they:
- Share experiences of treatments and managing side effects
- Discuss the possible impact on partners, family and work
- Learn from guest speakers including Medical Professionals
- Find reassurance and fellowship in an easy going, friendly environment.
- Learn from those who may have already experienced what you are going through
- Support and Assist others through their journey
Partners, Family members and loved ones are also welcomed and are encouraged to attend as its important to have that close support.
